Upbringing fading under the light of phones

 

The two horrific incidents that occurred in the country in recent days have deeply shaken us all.
In our city, a 10th-grade student shot his mathematics teacher with a firearm. In another district, a 14-year-old child stabbed a 7-year-old child.

These are not merely crime reports. They are signs of a deep wound within our society.

After such incidents, we often look for the causes in schools, laws, or psychological issues. But very often, we overlook the main reason: the loss of upbringing within the family and daily life.

Silent Living Rooms and “Talking” Phones

You visit a home as a guest. In the past, such gatherings were filled with conversations, exchange of ideas, discussions about science, politics, and life. Children would listen to adults and learn speech culture, respect, and social behavior.

Today, the scene is different. Everyone holds a phone. Everyone is on TikTok. No one lifts their head to look at the guest’s face. Multiple sounds come from different phones at the same time. There is no silence, no attention, no real communication.

What does the child see? What does the child learn?

The child learns that:
• the person in front of them is not important,
• real communication has no value,
• attention belongs to the screen, not to people.

This is a matter of upbringing.

Giving Birth Is Not Enough — Raising a Child Is Essential

Today, many parents believe that if a child has food, clothing, a phone, and a tablet, everything is fine. But the most important need moral guidance and upbringing  is neglected.

If a parent spends hours on the phone, it is impossible to expect different behavior from the child.

A child who does not respect society today will not respect their parents tomorrow. This is inevitable.

Series and “Screen Upbringing”

Parents are busy. The child is alone. And the child’s “educators” become TV series, aggressive plots, and scenes full of violence.

In some popular series, violence, criminal lifestyles, and displays of power are presented as normal and even attractive.

Psychology has long proven: a child models what they see, especially when there is no guidance and attention from the family.

These Incidents Are Not Accidental

A student shooting a teacher. A teenager stabbing a child. These are not results of a single day. They are the outcome of years of:
• lack of supervision,
• lack of communication,
• lack of upbringing,
• screen addiction,
• spiritual emptiness.

Society Begins at Home

Society is not built at school. Society is built at home. A child first learns respect at home, speech culture at home, and empathy at home.

If everyone at home lives inside a phone, how will a child learn the value of a human being?

A Call to Parents

Do not even think about society. Raise your child for your own sake. Put the phone aside. Talk to your child. Discuss with them. Read books together. Have conversations around the dinner table.

Because the child you fail to raise today may become your fear tomorrow.

These events clearly show one thing: as technology advances, human relationships have weakened. Screens have become brighter, but communication inside homes has faded. And children become the victims of this fading communication.

Upbringing will never come from a phone. Upbringing comes from the parent’s взгляд, words, and behavior.

Today is the time to relight the upbringing that has dimmed under the light of screens.
